Nominees Vision on Peace Thesis Price 2010

The jury has decided! Oh well… it’s still a mystery who will be the winner of the Vision on Peace Thesis Price 2010, but out of eighteen candidates the jury has picked five nominees. One of these five nominees will win 1500 euro and will be published in Vrede en Veiligheid (Peace and Security).

 

The nominees are:

During the symposium Conflict prevention and peace building by civil actors the nominees will give a poster presentation on their thesis. Following on the symposium the jury will announce the winner of the Vision on Peace Thesis Price 2010.

The jury consists of
Dr. Ph. P. Everts (chairman, polemologist associated with the political sciences departement at the University of Leiden and former editor-in-chief of Vrede en Veiligheid),
Dr. S. Menéndez (lawyer, associated with The Hague University and former director of Unit Social Work in Rotterdam and The Hague) and
Dr. K. van Dam (professor emeritus in biochemistry and former director of the Institute for Interdisciplinairy Studies at the University of Amsterdam).  
 
 
The thesis competition is a joint project of the Dutch peace organisation IKV Pax Christi and the Foundation for Peace Sciences. With this competition, the organisations wish to stimulate scholarly research in the area of peace and security. ASN Bank has sponsored the monetary prize.
